Hoare Lea Lighting,
specified WILA’s E Connect lighting solutions on the
refurbishment of
100 Leadenhall Street
,
London
for their
combination of visual presence, technical performance and
flexibility to serve different applications throughout the
building and create a functional eye-catching ambience.
The interior of the seven-floor
office building was to be adapted for specific uses thus
creating spaces for meetings, conferences, offices, breakout
zones and a restaurant. The objective was to amend the current
CAT A fit-out, with its gloomy ambience, and create a
comfortable, interesting visual environment, which complied
with the new LG3 addendum. Both ease of maintenance and energy
efficiency were critical factors when specifying the lighting
solutions.
The refurbishment
required a high standard of interior finish and WILA’s E
Connect luminaires, with integral dimmable electronic gear,
ensured the luminaires specified were not only unobtrusive at
ceiling level but in key areas added visual flair whilst
providing flexibility, as well as ease of installation and
maintenance.
Illuminating the
walls and ceilings were of paramount importance. WILA’s E08
Opticlights were specified throughout the refurbishment, being
positioned next to vertical surfaces to lighten the walls and
give an impression of brightness within the office areas.
The versatility of WILA’s E08 Opticlights enabled
various effects and atmospheres to be created relating to the
activities and furnishings of the room.
The opal optic, used in the line managers’ offices,
emitted 70% directed light and 30% diffuse lighting making it
the right choice for such representative areas. Whilst the
visual presence of the blue optic in the executives’ offices
was used to blend and accentuate the darker furniture.
By using WILA’s
E40 Light-in-Light system within the Brokers’ lounge a
pleasant mixture of direct/indirect light, similar to natural
light was reproduced, promoting motivation, wellbeing and thus
performance, an ideal lighting solution for the working
environment.
