Ingenuity House, Birmingham
Flexible Lighting for office and workplace
Ingenuity House, a 5 storey, 12,000sqm highly sustainable building, adjacent to Birmingham’s International Airport and Railway Station. This is Interserve’s new regional headquarters – seeing the international support services and construction group consolidate its operations in the West Midlands from five sites to one site.
The project was designed by Architect Sheppard Robson to create a collaborative, inspirational working environment. The exterior is characterised by the building’s stepped structure, creating a strong form that translates into a varied range of internal spaces.
The façade, coupled with the triangular plan of the building, helps create a robust sustainability strategy which allows the design team to achieve BREEAM Excellent for the building.
WILA Lighting were asked to provide the continuous lighting, both recessed and suspended, in both straight lines and curves to follow the exact profile of the Atrium on all floors. Linc Flex was used in four different widths – LINIC 40, LINIC 60 LINIC 100. As well as white light LED there was also an element of RGBW within the Reception Area.
We were also asked to provide a solution for the central Atrium area that required lighting at floor level from 5 storey’s above. This was achieved with our high power TENTEC downlights, they were supplied with in excess of 11,000 luminaire lumens grouped in three’s between the skylights and utilised inclination adaptors due to the sloped ceiling.
